Parish Worship Ministries
Many members of St Mark’s are involved in our worship ministries. Most of our worship services are liturgical. “Liturgy” is a word that means “the work of the people, or of the community”. It is the work of listening to God through scripture (the Liturgy of the Word), and the work of offering ourselves and all creation to God for recovery and transformation (the Liturgy of the Altar). It involves all the people, and especially those who serve as Lectors (those who read scriptures and prayers), Eucharistic ministers (those who help administer the chalice of wine at Communion), Acolytes (those who light the candles, carry the cross and torches, and accompany or assist the priest during the service, Musicians, and Hosts/Greeters. It also includes the Altar Guild (those who do the work of preparing the sanctuary for worship and of caring for the holy vessels and linens), and the Flower Guild (who adorn the Altar with flowers each Sunday and on special occasions).
